Job summary

KC Group are recruiting a Debt Recovery Officer on behalf of a leading public sector organisation. This is a 6-month temporary contract, full-time, 9:00am - 5:00pm, hybrid pattern with 4 days per week from home. Office attendance every Monday.

You will manage a caseload of outstanding debts, negotiate payment arrangements, contact customers, and maintain records while delivering a customer-focused service.

Qualifications

• Experience in debt recovery, collections, or revenue/income recovery.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
• Experience handling sensitive conversations professionally.
• Strong organisational and administrative abilities.
• Proficient IT skills including MS Office and database systems.

Responsibilities

• Manage a caseload of outstanding debts and drive timely recovery actions.
• Contact customers by phone, email, and correspondence to discuss arrears and options.
• Negotiate payment arrangements and monitor adherence to plans.
• Investigate accounts and resolve queries while ensuring accurate records.
• Liaise with internal teams and external agencies as needed.
• Provide advice on payment options and ensure compliant processes.

KC Group are recruiting a Debt Recovery Officer

on behalf of a leading public sector organisation.

This is a temporary opportunity offering an hourly rate of £14.14 per hour PAYE (Umbrella available), working full-time, Monday to Friday, with a hybrid working pattern of 4 days per week from home.

Are you an experienced debt recovery or collections professional with strong customer service skills? We're looking for a Debt Recovery Officer to support the recovery of outstanding debts, engage with customers to agree payment arrangements, and ensure effective income collection while delivering a customer-focused service.

Key Responsibilities of the Debt Recovery Officer role:

• Managing a caseload of outstanding debts and ensuring timely recovery action.
• Contacting customers by telephone, email, and correspondence to discuss arrears and payment options.
• Negotiating payment arrangements and monitoring adherence to agreed plans.
• Investigating customer accounts and resolving account queries.
• Maintaining accurate records and updating debt recovery systems.
• Providing advice and support to customers regarding payment options.
• Liaising with internal departments and external agencies where required.
• Ensuring all activities are carried out in line with relevant policies, procedures, and legislation.

To be considered for the Debt Recovery Officer role:

• Previous debt recovery, collections, credit control, revenues, or income recovery experience.
• Strong communication and negotiation skills.
• Experience handling sensitive or challenging conversations professionally.
• Excellent organisational and administrative abilities.
• Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office and database systems.
• Ability to manage a varied workload and meet deadlines.
• Customer-focused approach with strong problem-solving skills.
• Public sector or local authority experience would be advantageous.
