Job description
About the role

Our Deals Tax team works closely with our Deals practice to advise on the tax implications of every stage of the deal lifecycle for clients across a broad range of industries including Private Equity, Real Estate, Infrastructure and Credit.

The Credit team within Deals Tax advises a broad range of financial investors in the Private Credit sector. Clients include asset managers, banks, non-bank lenders and insurers, investing across a wide spectrum of strategies and asset classes including:

  • Structured lending / minority structured capital;
  • Infrastructure and asset based credit;
  • Real estate credit;
  • Primary loan origination;
  • Performing and non-performing secondary loan portfolios; and
  • Single credit distressed and debt restructuring situations.

The team provides tax and structuring advice from the full life cycle of credit investments from fund and platform design, capital deployment and transactions through to ultimate exit / value realisation. In addition to the UK, our work spans all major territories internationally.

The Credit team within Deals Tax continues to expand and significant growth is expected as capital continues to flow into private credit as an asset class. The team is looking to appoint a Director to lead on high-value transactions in this sector. The role would also include working with our wider teams across financial services and the broader corporate tax network.

What your days will look like:
  • Lead teams to deliver bespoke, commercially focused tax advice in a fast-paced and evolving international deals market
  • Responsibility for establishing and maintaining relationships as a trusted advisor; leading client engagements and work across our Deals business to lead multi-disciplinary solutions to clients
  • Be proactive in seeking opportunities to deliver and enhance value for new and existing clients
  • Use your internal network to draw upon specialist input on tax and non-tax matters in connection with transactions
  • Overall responsibility for ensuring successful delivery and management of projects, including financial performance
  • Take an active role in contributing to the strategic vision of the Credit and wider Deals Tax Team - working to capture opportunities for growth and diversification
  • Lead by example in your personal development, coaching your team to advance their learning and fulfil their own potential
  • Be agile and open minded in your approach to new challenges and seek opportunities to enhance project delivery through new technologies
This role is for you if:
  • You have an ACA/CTA qualification (or an international equivalent) or have equivalent work experience. This includes international candidates who qualify through experience in their home countries.
  • You have extensive experience, successfully leading teams on a number of transactions including due diligence, structuring & tax modelling
  • You have a strong understanding of indirect and transfer taxes, management taxes and international tax principles.
  • You can clearly demonstrate a substantive, proven track record of building internal and external relationships and networks, both within the UK and overseas
What You\'ll receive from us:

No matter where you may be in your career or personal life, our benefits are designed to add value and support, recognising and rewarding you fairly for your contributions.

We offer a range of benefits including empowered flexibility and a working week split between office, home and client site; private medical cover and 24/7 access to a qualified virtual GP; six volunteering days a year and much more.
