Job summary

Cygnet Learning Disabilities Midlands Limited is looking for a Support Worker at Long Eaton Day Services (NG10 1DS). You will assist adults with learning disabilities, providing daily support, activities and companionship in a friendly, activity-focused setting.

Experience of at least one year in a support role is preferred. You will work Monday to Friday daytime shifts, with paid breaks, DBS checking, training and induction provided, and access to a contributory pension and staff discounts.

Qualifications

  • Experience in a support setting for at least one year.
  • Caring, patient and genuinely interested in supporting people.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to understand non-verbal cues.
  • Observant and willing to learn how each person expresses needs.
  • Positive team player who supports colleagues during busy days.

Responsibilities

  • Get to know each person and understand their individual needs and communication style.
  • Provide physical and emotional support with patience, warmth and respect.
  • Help people take part in stimulating, varied and enjoyable activities.
  • Offer enhanced care through a flexible and individualised approach.
  • Support medical and welfare needs in line with training and plans.
  • Notice and report changes in health, wellbeing or behaviour.
  • Encourage choice, participation and independence wherever possible.
  • Support personal care and dietary needs respectfully.
  • Safeguard the people in our care.
  • Maintain a clean and safe environment and work with colleagues to provide consistent, person-centred support.

It is about getting to know each person, understanding how they communicate and helping them enjoy activities, relationships and experiences that matter to them.We support individuals with a primary diagnosis of a learning disability, as well as people with complex health needs, physical disabilities and autism. We are looking for an experienced Support Worker who can bring care, energy and flexibility to our team.What working here can feel like:Some of the people attending the service communicate non-verbally. That means making a difference can involve noticing a smile, a change in expression, someone holding your hand or another individual response that tells you they are enjoying themselves or that something is not quite right.Our team describes those moments as some of the most meaningful parts of the role.
