Job summary

Birkbeck, University of London is seeking a Duty Manager (Day) to lead campus security operations, ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for students, staff and visitors. You will supervise the daytime security team, manage rotas and control room activities, and coordinate incident response with a focus on service excellence.

The role requires a current SIA Door Supervisor and CCTV licence (or willingness to obtain), and offers a permanent, full-time contract with 35 hours per week,

Qualifications

• Minimum requirement: current SIA Door Supervisor and CCTV licences, or willingness to obtain.
• Experience supervising or leading a security team.
• Experience responding to incidents and coordinating emergencies.
• Knowledge of security operations, risk assessment and compliance.
• Strong communication with a customer-focused approach.
• Ability to stay calm under pressure and make sound decisions.

Responsibilities

• Lead the day-to-day delivery of campus security operations.
• Manage rotas and staffing; oversee control room operations.
• Coordinate incident response and support campus events.
• Contribute to service improvements, staff development and compliance.
• Support implementation of Martyn's Law and data protection requirements.
