Job summary

Staffordshire County Council is recruiting a dedicated care worker to support adults with learning disabilities in Newcastle Under Lyme and across provider services. You will deliver person-centred support, administer medication, assist with personal care and manual handling, and help plan community activities to promote independence and wellbeing.

Qualifications

• Current driving licence and access to a vehicle or ability to access local communities.
• Experience supporting people with learning disabilities and autism.
• Caring, patient and able to promote independence.
• Good ICT skills for digital record keeping.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to manage potential and actual aggression calmly.
• Willing to assist with personal and intimate care and manual handling.
• NVQ Level 2 or Care Certificate desirable; support offered to obtain.

Responsibilities

• Deliver excellent person-centred support in a flexible, responsive manner.
• Act as a Link Worker contributing to assessments and support plans.
• Administer medication and support personal care.
• Deliver manual handling and use of equipment; participate in activities.
• Plan and deliver community outings and activities, including sensory sessions.
