Job summary

Elevate, an AI technology company, is seeking an experienced Data Privacy Lawyer for a 6-month contract to provide pragmatic legal advice across UK and EU privacy matters as the business scales its AI-driven products.

You will support DPIAs, data transfers, privacy notices and DPAs, advise product and engineering teams, and monitor evolving regulation while working with internal stakeholders and external advisers.

Qualifications

• UK-qualified solicitor or equivalent legal qualification.
• Strong experience in data protection and privacy law.
• Knowledge of UK GDPR and EU data protection principles.
• Experience advising technology, SaaS, or digital businesses.
• Exposure to AI privacy/regulatory matters desirable.

Responsibilities

• Provide practical legal advice on UK and EU data protection and privacy matters.
• Advise on GDPR compliance, DPIAs, international data transfers and data-sharing arrangements.
• Support privacy considerations relating to AI products and data use.
• Draft and review privacy notices, DPAs, data processing terms and other privacy documentation.
• Advise on privacy risks to commercial, product, engineering and business teams.
• Support development and implementation of privacy policies and governance frameworks.
• Monitor regulatory developments relating to AI, data protection and emerging technology.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external advisers as required.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide practical legal advice on UK and EU data protection and privacy matters.
• Advise on GDPR compliance, DPIAs, international data transfers and data-sharing arrangements.
• Support privacy considerations relating to AI products, technologies and data use.
• Draft and review privacy notices, DPAs, data processing terms and other privacy documentation.
• Advise commercial, product, engineering and business teams on privacy risks and requirements.
• Support the development and implementation of privacy policies, processes and governance frameworks.
• Monitor regulatory developments relating to AI, data protection and emerging technology.
• Work closely with internal stakeholders and external advisers as required.

Requirements

• UK-qualified solicitor or equivalent legal qualification.
• Strong experience in data protection and privacy law, ideally gained in-house or within a leading technology-focused law firm.
• Strong knowledge of UK GDPR and wider EU data protection principles.
• Experience advising technology, SaaS, AI or digital businesses.
• Exposure to AI-related privacy, regulatory or data governance matters would be highly desirable.
• Commercially minded, pragmatic and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
• Able to work independently and engage confidently with senior stakeholders.
