Job summary

Elevate, an AI technology company, is seeking an experienced Data Privacy Lawyer on a 6-month contract to provide legal advice across privacy and data protection matters as the business scales AI-driven products and services.

You will advise on UK GDPR, DPIAs, data transfers, privacy notices, DPAs, and data processing terms, and work with commercial, product and engineering teams while engaging with senior stakeholders.

Qualifications

• UK-qualified solicitor or equivalent qualification.
• Strong experience in data protection and privacy law.
• Strong knowledge of UK GDPR and EU data protection principles.
• Experience advising technology, SaaS, AI or digital businesses.
• Exposure to AI-related privacy or data governance matters is desirable.
• Commercially minded and comfortable in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide practical legal advice on UK and EU data protection and privacy matters.

• Draft and review privacy notices, DPAs, data processing terms and other privacy documentation.

• Support the development and implementation of privacy policies, processes and governance frameworks.
• Monitor regulatory developments relating to AI, data protection and emerging technology.
• Work closely with internal stakeholders and external advisers as required.

Requirements

• UK-qualified solicitor or equivalent legal qualification.
• Strong experience in data protection and privacy law, ideally gained in-house or within a leading technology-focused law firm.
• Strong knowledge of UK GDPR and wider EU data protection principles.
• Experience advising technology, SaaS, AI or digital businesses.
• Exposure to AI-related privacy, regulatory or data governance matters would be highly desirable.
• Commercially minded, pragmatic and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
• Able to work independently and engage confidently with senior stakeholders.
