Job summary

Elevate seeks an experienced Data Privacy Lawyer for a 6-month contract to provide legal counsel on privacy and data protection as it scales AI-driven products and services.

You will advise on UK GDPR, DPIAs, data transfers and privacy notices, collaborating with product, engineering and commercial teams to address privacy risks and ensure compliant governance.

Qualifications

• UK-qualified solicitor or equivalent.
• Strong knowledge of UK GDPR and data protection principles.
• Experience advising technology, SaaS or digital businesses.

Responsibilities

• Provide practical legal advice on UK and EU data protection matters.
• Advise on GDPR compliance, DPIAs and international data transfers.
• Draft and review privacy notices, DPAs and data processing terms.
• Advise on privacy risks to commercial, product and engineering teams.
• Support privacy policies, processes and governance implementations.

Our customer, an AI technology company is seeking an experienced Data Privacy Lawyer for a 6 month contract role to provide legal advice across a broad range of privacy and data protection matters. This is an exciting opportunity to join a fast-paced technology environment and support the business as it develops and scales AI-driven products and services.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide practical legal advice on UK and EU data protection and privacy matters.
• Advise on GDPR compliance, DPIAs, international data transfers and data-sharing arrangements.
• Support privacy considerations relating to AI products, technologies and data use.
• Draft and review privacy notices, DPAs, data processing terms and other privacy documentation.
• Advise commercial, product, engineering and business teams on privacy risks and requirements.
• Support the development and implementation of privacy policies, processes and governance frameworks.
• Monitor regulatory developments relating to AI, data protection and emerging technology.
• Work closely with internal stakeholders and external advisers as required.

Requirements

• UK-qualified solicitor or equivalent legal qualification.
• Strong experience in data protection and privacy law, ideally gained in-house or within a leading technology-focused law firm.
• Strong knowledge of UK GDPR and wider EU data protection principles.
• Experience advising technology, SaaS, AI or digital businesses.
• Exposure to AI-related privacy, regulatory or data governance matters would be highly desirable.
• Commercially minded, pragmatic and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
• Able to work independently and engage confidently with senior stakeholders.
