Job summary

Reflection seeks a front-line technical leader to build and grow the Data Platform team, guiding ingestion, orchestration, and scalable data infrastructure. You will work closely with research and production teams to enable rapid experimentation on a unified data layer, while establishing data quality and governance signals to support confident production decisions.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of engineering experience with production-grade pipelines at large scale.
• Staff/principal-level IC experience prior to leadership.
• Led teams of ~5–10 people or demonstrated readiness to scale quickly.
• Deep expertise in at least one area: ingestion/orchestration, storage/processing engines, or data quality/lineage systems.
• Fluent in the modern data stack and building new systems from zero.

Responsibilities

• Build, mentor, and grow a data platform team (~10 engineers) and raise performance.
• Guide technical direction for ingestion and orchestration across batch and streaming workloads.
• Collaborate with research, training, and production to enable rapid experimentation on a unified data layer.
• Establish data quality, lineage, governance signals for production decisions.
• Maintain cost and performance with guardrails and continuous tuning.
• Stay hands-on with design reviews, architecture decisions, and critical code.
