Job summary

Job description

Oxford University Hospitals (OUH) NHS Foundation Trust is working with the Big Data Institute within the University of Oxford to develop a secure platform for large-scale research and development. This platform will link detailed information from partner NHS organisations, from national datasets, and from research projects and make it available for analysis by trusted users within a secure cloud environment. There is a particular emphasis on high-value clinical and translational research, including the development and evaluation of AI innovations in healthcare delivery. The Data and System Analyst will contribute to the development and operation of this platform, the Thames Valley and Surrey (TVS) Secure Data Environment (SDE), as a key component of the future UK health research ecosystem. They will build and communicate a deep understanding of data design, data semantics, and data usage in healthcare and health research. They will work as part of a team of engineers, scientists, managers, and governance specialists, using state-of-the-art tools and technologies. Their work will lead to advances in our understanding of disease and to improvements in healthcare services.

  • A good, masters'-level qualification or a good undergraduate degree followed by relevant experience, A masters'-level qualification with a strong data science or data engineering component, Experience of working with data representations in database or programming formats
  • Experience of writing papers or technical reports
  • Experience of delivering data, documentation, or reports to meet strong expectations of correctness, quality, and provenance
  • Good understanding of data design, schemas, and data architecture
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of working with workflow or process description notations
  • Experience of working with AI technologies
