Job summary

National Milk Records (NMR) is seeking an Area Business Manager to manage dairy customers across Shropshire, working on farms to drive retention and growth. You will promote milk recording, disease testing and genomics while building trusted relationships and delivering value from data and services.

You will travel within the territory, attend events, and collaborate with service teams to ensure high standards and a positive customer experience.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated sales or commercial account management experience, ideally within agriculture, dairy, animal health, genetics or a related sector.
• Solid knowledge of the dairy industry or wider agricultural market, with credibility to build trust with farmers.
• Professional, consultative selling style focused on customer needs and long-term relationships.
• Commercial focus and persistence, value-based growth and retained business.
• Comfortable working in a home-based, territory-led role managing own diary.
• Clear communication and interpersonal skills to engage face to face and influence effectively.
• Good administrative discipline, including CRM usage and follow-up management.
• Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel extensively within the territory.

Responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of existing farm customers, with on-farm visits focused on retention and value.
• Build new business by prospecting non-customers and maintaining a robust pipeline.
• Promote the full NMR service portfolio, including milk recording, disease testing and genomic services.
• Help customers understand and use their data to improve herd performance and decision-making.
• Act as main contact for queries, resolving issues and coordinating with service teams for high standards.
• Support onboarding of new farms, ensuring smooth transitions into NMR services.
• Be active in the local farming community by attending events and building networks.
• Collaborate with colleagues and partner businesses to deliver joined-up customer solutions.
• Keep CRM records accurate and up to date, logging interactions and follow-ups.
