Job summary

VRS Recruitment is seeking a Scientific Service Engineer to join a reputable instrument manufacturer in the Manchester area. You will be trained to repair and maintain state-of-the-art surface analysis instrumentation and travel worldwide to install upgrades and perform maintenance.

• Provide general customer support and on-site troubleshooting

Job description

This is a fantastic opportunity for both experienced and aspiring Scientific Service Engineers, who are looking to establish themselves within a reputable instrument manufacturer. You will receive extensive training in the repair and maintenance of state-of-the-art surface analysis instrumentation, and the opportunity to travel the world!

Focusing on high-tech, cutting-edge analytical instrumentation, you will travel worldwide to customer sites installing instrument upgrades, performing ad-hoc repairs, planned preventative maintenance and general customer support.

This is a unique opportunity to work with complex technology in a customer-facing environment. You must be willing to spend max. 50% of your time travelling globally. In addition to the travel requirements, a generous salary bonus, as well as daily subsistence allowance & expenses is provided.

Candidate profile:

Suitable candidates will have background in mechanical/electronic engineering or physics – with an interest and skill in fault finding and repair of instruments or mechanical/electrical systems.

Knowledge of surface analysis or X-Ray instrumentation would also be beneficial but extensive training is provided. Excellent communication and team skills are essential.
