Job summary

Scientia Talent has partnered with a well-established manufacturer of high-precision laboratory instruments to recruit a Field Service Engineer for the South East region, covering Milton Keynes. You will perform preventative maintenance, calibration, fault diagnostics, and onsite training on advanced analytical instruments with full product training provided.

The role emphasises hands-on problem solving, customer liaison, and accurate reporting.

Qualifications

• HNC or above in an engineering or science discipline (electronics preferred) or equivalent experience.
• Field service experience on complex technical equipment.
• Strong electronic fault-finding skills.
• Organised, self-motivated, and clear communicator.
• Full, clean UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventative maintenance and calibration to company standards.
• Diagnose and repair faults at customer sites or in-house, providing detailed service reports.
• Install new systems and train customers on operation and routine care.
• Provide remote technical support to customers and colleagues by phone and online.
• Support the wider service team on larger multi-instrument contracts, including occasional overnight stays.
• Manage your own diary, car stock, and calibrated tools and test equipment.
• Record all activity in the CRM system and spot service and instrument sales opportunities.

Following continued growth in their UK service business, they are now looking to appoint a Field Service Engineer to cover the South East. You'll look after a broad portfolio of advanced analytical instruments, with full product training provided. Key Responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventative maintenance and calibration of analytical instruments to company service standards, completing all documentation accurately
• Diagnose and repair faults at customer sites or in-house, providing detailed service reports
• Install new systems and train customers on operation and routine care
• Provide remote technical support to customers and colleagues by phone and online
• Support the wider service team on larger multi-instrument contracts, including occasional overnight stays
• Manage your own diary, car stock, and calibrated tools and test equipment
• Spot service and instrument sales opportunities during visits and record all activity in the CRM system
• HNC or above in an engineering or science discipline (electronics preferred), or equivalent experience or forces technical training
• Field service experience on complex technical equipment. Analytical or laboratory instrumentation is ideal, but experience from other complex electromechanical equipment such as print and office equipment, weighing systems or medical devices will be considered
• Strong electronic fault-finding skills and confidence with standard test equipment.
• Organised, self-motivated and a clear communicator, comfortable with CRM systems and MS Office
• Full, clean UK driving licence
