Job summary

OA is recruiting a Customer Service Advisor to join our client's team in Potters Bar. This varied, sales- and customer-focused role manages an allocated portfolio, handling enquiries, quotations and orders while working with Production, Purchasing, Quality, Warehouse and Despatch.

You’ll also develop specialist knowledge of metals, alloys, strip and wire products. The position is based in Potters Bar with Monday–Friday 9:00–17:00 hours.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Act as the main contact for allocated customers, building relationships.
• Manage enquiries, quotations and orders from inquiry to delivery.
• Provide information on pricing, lead times, delivery and product requirements.
• Follow up quotations and grow existing accounts.
• Develop specialist knowledge of metals, alloys, strip and wire products.
• Maintain CRM with customer, quotation and order information.
• Collaborate with Production, Purchasing, Quality, Warehouse, Despatch and Finance to meet requirements.
• Monitor orders and flag delays early.
• Handle queries and complaints professionally and escalate when needed.
• Ensure quotations/orders meet specs, including materials and traceability.

Customer Service Advisor

OA are recruiting a Customer Service Advisorto join our client's growing team in Potters Bar.

Our client is a family-owned precision metals business with over 85 years of trading history, supplying strip and wire to customers across the UK and Europe in the aerospace, defence, battery technology, automotive and medical sectors.

This is a varied, sales and customer-focused role where you'll manage an allocated portfolio of customers, handling enquiries, quotations and orders while working closely with Production, Purchasing, Quality, Warehouse and Despatch. You'll also develop specialist knowledge of specific metals, alloys, strip and wire products.

Location: Potters Bar
Hours: Monday-Friday, 9.00am-5.00pm, office based
Salary: £32,000-£35,000

Key Responsibilities

• Act as the main point of contact for allocated customers, building strong and lasting relationships.
• Manage customer enquiries, quotations and orders from initial contact through to delivery.
• Provide accurate information on pricing, lead times, delivery and product requirements.
• Follow up quotations and identify opportunities to grow existing customer accounts.
• Develop specialist knowledge of assigned metals, alloys, strip and wire products.
• Maintain accurate customer, quotation and order information within the CRM.
• Work closely with Production, Purchasing, Quality, Warehouse, Despatch and Finance to ensure customer requirements are met.
• Monitor orders and identify potential delays or issues at the earliest opportunity.
• Handle customer queries and complaints professionally, taking ownership and escalating where appropriate.
• Ensure quotations and orders meet customer specifications, including material, tolerances, certification and traceability requirements.
• Follow company quality, data protection and health & safety procedures.

Skills & Experience

• Experience in customer service, internal sales, sales administration or a similar commercial role.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
• The ability to manage multiple customers and competing priorities.
• Experience using CRM or business systems.
• A commercially aware and customer-focused approach.
• A proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to take ownership.
• A willingness to develop technical knowledge of metals, alloys, strip and wire products.
• Professionalism, reliability and a strong team-working approach.

Desirable: Experience within metals, engineering, manufacturing or precision materials, previous internal sales experience, CRM experience in a sales environment.
