Job summary

Abingdon and Witney College invites applications for a Curriculum Manager to lead and develop our Construction Trades provision. Working pattern: Monday - Thursday 7.5 hours, Friday 7 hours

Are you an experienced educational leader ready to make a real difference to learners, staff and industry?

We are looking for an ambitious and inspirational Curriculum Manager to lead and develop our Construction Trades provision. This is an exciting opportunity to shape the future of the curriculum, develop talented teams and ensure learners achieve excellent outcomes that prepare them for successful careers within the construction Industry.

Working closely with the Head of Faculty, employers and industry partners, you will drive curriculum innovation, support high-quality teaching and learning and create an environment where both staff and students can thrive.

You will play a key role in strengthening our industry-focused curriculum vocational pathways, ensuring our offer remains responsive to local and regional skills needs and gives learners the best possible start in the construction sector.

About the Role:

As Curriculum Manager, you will lead curriculum delivery across your area, ensuring programmes are ambitious, inclusive, well organised and closely aligned to the needs of learners, employers and the wider community.

You will support and develop teaching teams, use performance information to drive improvement, and build strong relationships with employers, schools and external stakeholders. Your leadership will help ensure excellent teaching, learning, assessment and student experience across the provision.

  • Lead and develop a successful curriculum area with a clear focus on quality, achievement and progression.
  • Support, motivate and develop teaching teams to deliver engaging, inclusive and industry-relevant learning.
  • Drive continuous improvement through effective quality assurance, performance monitoring and action planning.
  • Build strong partnerships with employers, schools and external organisations to enhance opportunities for learners.
  • Identify opportunities for curriculum growth, including new programmes that respond to local and regional skills needs.
  • Use data and performance measures to improve learner outcomes and close achievement gaps.
  • Champion excellence in teaching, learning, assessment, student experience and staff development.
  • Promote a culture of inclusion, collaboration, accountability and continuous improvement.

Any successful candidates will be required to complete a structured training pathway, unless they already hold the relevant qualifications. This includes a two-week teacher induction (must be completed within probation), followed by the Award in Education and Training (AET) including Assessor is required, and then the Level 5 Learning and Skills Teacher (LST) apprenticeship. Completion of this structured learning programme is expected within 3 years. Furthermore, there is the option to pursue Qualified Teacher Learning Status (QTLS).
