Job summary

V.Group is seeking a CHIEF ENGINEER for the cruise vessel MAGELLAN DISCOVERER. This contract role involves leading the Engine department, with embarkation dates and 3 months on/off rotation, aboard a passenger cruise ship.

Ideal candidates hold extensive Chief Engineer experience on cruise vessels, STCW95 and CoC A-III/2, medical fitness, and strong English communication. AMOS and MS Office skills are beneficial for daily operations.

Qualifications

  • Extensive experience as a Chief Engineer on passenger/cruise vessels.
  • Valid STCW95 certification and CoC A-III/2.
  • Valid medical fitness certification.
  • Strong references and professional recommendations.
  • Excellent English communication skills; multicultural onboard teamwork.

Responsibilities

  • Lead safe and effective operation and maintenance of all main, auxiliary and domestic machinery and equipment.
  • Ensure all systems and equipment are maintained to the highest standards for safe navigation.
  • Coordinate with other ship departments and external technical parties.
  • Maintain vessel engine room, electrical and mechanical divisions under ISM/MLC requirements.
  • Manage engine department budget, watches, and spare parts inventory.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, health, environmental, and pollution prevention regulations.
