SMS International Shore Operations in Southampton is seeking an organised Transportation Planner to coordinate coach transport for cruise passengers, aligning guest numbers, flight arrivals and port timings with external providers.

This office-based role requires attention to detail, clear communication and cost-efficient planning, with flexibility for overtime and weekend work; a full UK driving licence and access to a car are advantageous.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in transportation planning, scheduling or coach operations.
• Experience working with coach companies or transportation providers is advantageous.
• Background in cruise, travel, tourism or passenger transportation sectors is beneficial.
• Strong organisational and planning skills with attention to detail.
• Confident interpreting passenger numbers, timings and requirements into practical plans.
• Methodical approach to bookings, schedules and changes.
• Strong problem-solving and ability to stay calm when plans change.
• Clear communication with internal teams and external suppliers.
• Good IT skills with common office software.

Responsabilités

• Review transportation requirements from Shore Operations, including passenger numbers, flight arrivals, departure times, airports and ports.
• Plan and coordinate coach transportation for embarkation and debarkation operations.
• Determine number and type of coaches needed, balancing passenger needs, timings, costs.
• Liaise with coach operators to check availability, obtain confirmations and arrange bookings.
• Provide suppliers with passenger numbers, schedules, locations and instructions.
• Maintain accurate transportation schedules and update changes as needed.
• Identify issues in advance and collaborate with colleagues and suppliers on solutions.
• Build relationships with transportation providers across UK destinations.
• Support forward planning for upcoming cruise calls and future periods.
• Maintain records of bookings, confirmations and requirements.
• Communicate updates to relevant teams and management.
• Contribute ideas to improve planning processes and efficiency.
