Job summary

Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Peripatetic Receptionist to join the Surgical Division on a 1 year fixed term contract. The role is 22.5 hours per week, with shifts Monday to Friday 08:30–17:00, and cross-cover between Surgical Reception areas including Heavitree site.

You will be the first point of contact for patients and visitors, providing courteous, compassionate care, and supporting consultants and hospital staff.

Qualifications

• Excellent communication and customer service skills required.
• Experience in a hospital or NHS environment is desirable.
• Friendly, approachable and professional demeanor.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients and collect relevant personal data for patient records.
• Book appointments in the clinic as requested.
• Respond to telephone enquiries and direct patients and visitors.
• Liaise with other health staff and support the administrative team.
• Provide cross-cover between Surgical Reception areas as needed.
