Job description

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is one of the largest healthcare systems in the UK employing around 40,000 staff in a wide range of clinical and non-clinical professions and job roles. We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health care services to a population of over 1.15 million and a wider population of 2.2 million when our regional and national services are included.

This is a fulltime, permanent post of 37 hours per week, with a shift pattern of Monday to Sunday.

This post will require the successful applicant to obtain PVG Clearance.

UK NMC or HCPC Registration is essential.

Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen within Unscheduled Care Mental Health Services for a motivated, vibrant and experienced nurse with highly developed clinical and leadership skills. We are looking to recruit a dynamic, credible and visible leader to the post of Team Leader for the Crisis Team. The successful candidate will lead the Crisis Team to deliver and develop local services in line with the Mental Health Strategy and the agreed policies and procedures.

The successful candidate should have recent experience in a senior role within mental health services. They will be educated to degree level or equivalent experience. You will have responsibility for the delivery of effective and high quality crisis care and treatment across the region and, in collaboration with partner agencies, ensure delivery of pathways that provide a seamless and integrated person centred service.

You will work in partnership with other stakeholders across the Health and Social Care Partnership (HSCP) to ensure the Crisis Service is effective, and continues to develop in line with patient need and local and national objectives. You will have a good working knowledge of relevant Mental Health legislation, Care Programme Approach (CPA) and legislative frameworks relevant to Mental Health, Criminal Procedures, and Public Protection, knowledge of current physical and psychological treatments in mental health and understand the political environment and integration agenda.

You will work as a Team Leader in the Crisis Team. The post will involve completing crisis complex mental health assessments and being a point of reference for advice and guidance to junior staff who require support with complex cases. You will have responsibility for the day-to-day supervision and management of lower banded staff within the Crisis Team. This will include the management of these staff in line with agreed Trust HR processes.

In delivering your duties, you are expected to display behaviours that are aligned with the Trust values and in accordance with the NHS Constitution at all times.
