Job summary

Bristow & Sutor Group in Sheffield is seeking a Credit Controller on a fixed-term basis to cover maternity leave from 1 January 2027 to 28 April 2028. You will manage customer accounts, chase overdue invoices and support cash flow.

The role requires accurate, proactive communication, experience in credit control or Sales Ledger, and the ability to maintain strong customer relationships. Prior experience with Sage 200 is advantageous.

• Experience in credit control or sales ledger.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage a varied workload.
• High levels of accuracy and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently while supporting the wider finance team.
• Customer-focused with the confidence to discuss overdue payments.

Responsibilities

• Take ownership of day-to-day sales ledger management for accuracy and timeliness.
• Proactively contact customers by phone and email to pursue overdue invoices.
• Review aged debt and take action to minimise overdue balances.
• Reconcile customer accounts and resolve discrepancies promptly.
• Manage invoice and payment disputes with internal teams to reach timely resolutions.
• Allocate and process customer payments with the Accounts Payable Clerk.
• Monitor credit limits and payment terms; escalate risks when needed.
• Implement account holds following company credit procedures.
• Maintain strong relationships with customers while ensuring timely payments.
• Collaborate with Sales and Customer Service to resolve account queries.
• Provide regular updates on outstanding debt and collection activity.
• Assist with month-end procedures and other finance admin.
