Job summary

Stephensons Solicitors LLP in Wigan is seeking a proactive Credit Controller to join our Finance team. The role involves chasing overdue accounts, issuing collection letters, and supporting monthly reporting and audits.

You will work closely with the Finance team in a hybrid setup, balancing office and home working. The position requires strong numerical skills and experience in administrative/finance roles.

Qualifications

  • GCSE maths and English at minimum grade C/4 (or equivalent).
  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience in an administrative role, preferably accounting/finance.
  • Confident and proactive communication by phone and email, with experience managing difficult calls.
  • Strong numerical accuracy.

Responsibilities

  • Proactively chase overdue accounts by phone and email, maintaining accurate records.
  • Issue appropriate collection letters.
  • Liaise with solicitors and other colleagues and dealing with problem accounts.
  • Analyse and present monthly reports.

Credit Controller
Department: Finance
Location: Wigan, WN3 5BA/Hybrid home working
Hours: 35 hours per week Full-time, Permanent

We have an opportunity for a proactive and organised Credit Controller to join our Finance team.

Your role

Working alongside Lee Catterall, Partner and Financial Controller and his Finance team, you will play a vital role in supporting financial legal services. Ensuring we follow good credit control procedures.

  • Proactively chase overdue accounts by phone and email, maintaining accurate records
  • Issue appropriate collection letters
  • Liaise with solicitors and other colleagues and dealing with problem accounts
  • Analyse and present monthly reports
  • Support with audits

Essential
  • GCSE maths and English at minimum grade C/4 (or equivalent experience)

Desirable
  • Bookkeeping, accounting qualifications or training
