Job summary

Chartwells Independent in Poole is seeking a passionate Sous Chef to join a vibrant kitchen team. You will support the Chef Manager, lead by example, and deliver high-quality dishes in a fast-paced environment.

Working Sundays 7:30am–3:30pm (potential for an earlier start if transport requires) with an hourly rate of £16. This role offers opportunities to develop menus, mentor junior staff, and contribute to exceptional dining experiences.

Qualifications

• Experience in quality-focused kitchens.
• Strong organisational skills with rota and prep planning.
• Passion for developing others and leading by example.
• Knowledge of portioning, food cost and waste control.

Responsibilities

• Support the Chef Manager in delivering flavourful, visually appealing dishes across service formats.
• Assist with menu development and nutritionally balanced options.
• Foster a positive, high-performing kitchen culture.
• Assist with ordering, stock control and kitchen organisation.
• Maintain best-in-class hygiene and presentation standards.
