Job summary

Compass Group UK&I ESS is recruiting a Chef for Defence contracts, on a full-time basis (35 hours per week). The role focuses on preparing and serving high-quality food, driving menu changes, and delivering exceptional customer service across secure environments.

The ideal candidate will hold City & Guilds 706/1 & 2 or NVQ equivalent, have team supervision experience, and possess a Food Hygiene certificate. A flexible approach to working is essential.

Qualifications

• Proven food prep experience in a professional kitchen.
• Experience planning and adapting menus.
• Experience supervising a team of cooks.
• Experience in a similar Chef role.
• Hold a Food Hygiene certificate.

Responsibilities

• Prepare high-quality food for clients and customers.
• Oversee and implement menu changes.
• Identify opportunities to improve food services.
• Listen to customer feedback to drive improvements.
• Assist with creation of new menus and concepts.
• Represent Defence and maintain a positive brand image.
• Monitor inventories to keep kitchens well-stocked.
• Oversee kitchen cleaning to maintain hygiene standards.
• Comply with Food Handling, Hygiene and Health and Safety regulations.
