Job summary

ESS – Defence, Energy and Government Services, part of Compass Group UK&I, is recruiting a Chef for Defence. The role is full-time, contracted to 35 hours per week, with a 5-out-of-7 shift pattern.

You will prepare and serve high-quality food, lead a kitchen team, and help develop menus and food concepts. The ideal candidate holds City & Guilds 706/1 & 2 or NVQ equivalent, a Food Hygiene certificate, and experience supervising a team in a similar role.

Responsibilities

• Prepare delicious, high-quality food for clients and customers
• Oversee and implement menu changes
• Identify opportunities to improve food services
• Listen to customer feedback and drive improvements
• Assist with creating new menus and creative concepts
• Represent Defence and uphold the brand image
• Monitor stock/inventories to keep kitchens well-supplied
• Oversee kitchen cleaning to maintain hygiene standards
• Ensure compliance with Food Handling, Hygiene and Health & Safety regulations
