Job summary

Novus, the LTE Group prison education provider, is seeking a Cover Teacher to deliver engaging lessons on an ad-hoc basis at HMP Liverpool.

The role requires a teaching qualification and a Level 2 literacy/numeracy credential, with a commitment to ongoing professional development and safeguarding. You will contribute to a safe, rehabilitative learning environment and support learners’ progress.

Qualifications

  • Hold a teaching qualification and, where applicable, a relevant subject specialist qualification – with a commitment to obtain an outstanding qualification within 12 months.
  • Hold a Level 2 qualification in Literacy and Numeracy.
  • Have experience creating stimulating, vibrant environments conducive to learning and motivating for learners.
  • Have a good previous track record of achieving quality targets.
  • Show willingness to engage with and produce accurate and timely reports.
  • Demonstrate effective interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Be able to motivate and enthuse learners in the subject matter(s).
  • Demonstrate good organisational skills and adaptability to prioritise workload and meet deadlines/targets.
  • Be adaptable and demonstrate knowledge in chosen subject area(s).
  • Advocate for and engage consistently in positive team working.

We have a great opportunity available to join Novus, our prison education provider at HMP Liverpool, working as a Cover Teacher on an ad-hoc/casual basis.

Site Information

HMP Liverpool is a Category B Male prison based in Walton, Liverpool. The prison itself has a strong local identity. Upon arrival, large murals illustrate the city and its surroundings. The teams aim to create an environment in which staff and prisoners feel safe, and where causes of prison stress are minimised. The prison’s mission is to provide a secure, safe, and rehabilitative environment that encourages positive change and prepares inmates for a successful reintegration into society.
