Job summary

Novus, the prison education provider and part of the LTE Group, is recruiting an English & Maths Cover Teacher for HMP Five Wells in Wellingborough. This permanent, full-time role offers 37 hours per week and a chance to inspire learners in a secure setting.

You will hold a teaching qualification and a Level 2 Literacy and Numeracy qualification, develop engaging lessons, and help learners achieve targets. Safeguarding checks apply and ongoing professional development is encouraged.

Qualifications

• Hold a teaching qualification with subject specialism in English and/or Maths.
• Commitment to obtain outstanding qualification within 12 months.
• Level 2 qualification in Literacy and Numeracy.
• Proven ability to create engaging, motivating learning environments.
• Proven track record of meeting quality targets and reporting.

Responsibilities

• Deliver English or Maths lessons, or cover sessions, to learners in custody.
• Create stimulating, inclusive learning environments.
• Prepare accurate and timely progress reports.
• Collaborate with colleagues and adhere to safeguarding and DBS checks.
• Support learners to achieve targets and progress.

We have a great opportunity available to join Novus, our prison education provider at HMP Five Wells, working as a English & Maths Cover Teacher. This role is offered on a permanent, full-time basis, working 37 hours per week.

Site Information

HMP Five Wells is a Category C prison that is based in Wellingborough. Built in 2022, and costing £253m, this state of the art prison accommodates a male prison population. HMP Five Wells are committed to celebrating diversity and promoting equality throughout their services. Skills, Qualifications and Experience

To be successful in this role, you will need to:

• Hold a teaching qualification and where applicable, relevant subject specialist qualification - with a commitment to obtain the outstanding qualification within 12 months.
• Hold a Level 2 qualification in Literacy and Numeracy
• Have experience in creating stimulating, vibrant environments which are conducive to learning and motivational for learners
• Have previous track record showing achievement of quality targets
• Have successfully produced accurate and timely reports
• Demonstrate effective interpersonal and communication skills
• Can motivate and enthuse learners
• Have organisational skills to prioritise workload to meet deadlines and targets
• Demonstrate positive team working
