The Best Connection Reading is currently recruiting a Yard Operative to join a reputable builders' merchant based in Caversham. This temporary-to-permanent role offers stable weekday hours, with a clear path to a permanent position after a successful trial period.

Pay rate is £13.34 per hour, Monday to Friday, 7:00am to 4:30pm, with a 1-hour unpaid lunch break. Training is provided, and you will work in a hands-on, outdoor yard environment.

Qualifications

• This role requires working outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Must be physically fit and capable of lifting 25kg+.
• Experience in yard, warehouse, or builders' merchant is beneficial but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Assist customers with queries and orders in the yard.
• Receive deliveries and log incoming goods accurately.
• Support stock checks and inventory recording.
• Load/unload materials safely and follow handling procedures.
• Keep the yard clean, tidy and safe, adhering to health & safety rules.

Role Overview & Responsibilities

As a Yard Operative, you will play a key role in the day-to-day operations of the yard, ensuring everything runs smoothly and efficiently. Your responsibilities will include:

• Working outdoors in all weather conditions, supporting daily yard operations
• Providing a high level of customer service by assisting customers with queries and orders
• Receiving deliveries and accurately logging all incoming goods
• Supporting stock checks and ensuring inventory is correctly recorded
• Checking goods for accuracy and quality before loading
• Safely loading and unloading materials, ensuring correct handling procedures are followed
• Maintaining a clean, tidy, and well-organised yard environment
• Adhering to all health and safety regulations to ensure a safe working site for staff and customers
• FLT Counter balance needed.

This is a varied and active role where no two days are the same.
