Job summary

South Norfolk and Broadland Councils are seeking a friendly, professional Council Tax adviser to join our busy team in Norwich. You will be the first point of contact for residents, providing advice across Council Tax enquiries and handling billing and account changes with accuracy and care.

You will communicate via phone, email, in writing and in person, explaining tax rules and helping residents understand their bills. A strong emphasis on customer service and teamwork is required.

Qualifications

• Strong literacy, numeracy and IT skills.
• Experience in Council Tax, business rates, administration or customer service is preferred.
• Ability to handle a high volume of enquiries and resolve queries at first point of contact.

Responsibilities

• Answer residents via telephone, email, post and face-to-face.
• Deal with billing and collection of Council Tax.
• Process changes on accounts in line with legislation.
• Negotiate with residents behind with payments.
• Explain Council Tax rules clearly.
