Job summary

Carmarthenshire County Council is seeking a Council Tax officer to join the busy Taxation team. The role involves handling changes in property occupation, liabilities, and a range of discounts and exemptions with strong customer contact.

You will work in a supportive team, develop technical knowledge of Council Tax legislation, and manage priorities while contributing to service improvements within the Local Taxation Team.

Qualifications

• Level 2 Welsh conversational ability is required.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in administrative tasks.
• Ability to work as part of a team and also independently when needed.

Responsibilities

• Determine and action changes to council tax liability due to occupation/ownership changes and entitlement to discounts/exemptions.
• Handle enquiries about liability and recovery actions for unpaid accounts.
• Develop technical knowledge of Council Tax legislation, procedures, and systems, and prioritise workload.
