Job summary

Mott MacDonald is seeking an Estimator within its Advisory and Programme Delivery unit to lead cost estimation across major infrastructure projects. You will apply bottom‑up and top‑down methods, manage scope with stakeholders, and ensure robust governance and documentation.

This role emphasizes collaboration, carbon considerations, and whole lifecycle cost thinking, aligned with Mott MacDonald's hybrid working policy and global project footprint.

Qualifications

• HNC / HND or degree in an Engineering, Construction Management, or Quantity Surveying discipline.
• Professional accreditation with AcostE / RICS / CIOB or working towards.
• Familiarity with estimating packages such as CANDY, CONQUEST, CAUSEWAY, COST OS, COST X.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
• Extensive experience of working in infrastructure projects and client relations.
• Knowledge of the HMT Five Case Business Model and whole life cost approaches.

Responsibilities

• Hold responsibility for cost estimate development through all stages from concept to handover.
• Undertake estimates using bottom‑up and top‑down methods.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to capture and record estimating scope.
• Establish Work Breakdown and Cost Breakdown Structures with CESMM4, NRM, RMM, HWMM.
• Ensure all cost stack elements are considered in the estimate.
• Support risk/opportunity identification and cost impacts.
• Develop and support contingency calculations within a project team.
• Challenge sustainability and carbon considerations in proposals.
• Produce basis of estimate reports for stakeholders.
• Ensure estimating governance and sign‑off processes are followed.
• Support project finances with financial models.
