Job summary

Mott MacDonald is seeking an Estimator/Senior Estimator to deliver high-quality cost estimates across the project and programme lifecycle. You will work with stakeholders to define scope, develop cost plans using diverse estimating techniques, and ensure estimates reflect risks, opportunities, and uncertainties.

You will apply standard methodologies, maintain governance, and provide clear, well-documented outputs that support planning and financial management.

Qualifications

• Degree or equivalent in Engineering, Construction Management, or Quantity Surveying.
• Professional accreditation with AcostE / RICS / CIOB or in progress.
• Experience in process-heavy sectors (Water, Energy, Oil & Gas).
• Familiar with estimating software packages such as CANDY, CONQUEST, CAUSEWAY, COST OS, COST X.

Responsibilities

• Lead cost estimate development through all project stages from concept to delivery and handover.
• Apply first-principles bottom-up and parametric top-down estimating techniques.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to capture and record estimating activity scope.
• Establish Work Breakdown and Cost Breakdown Structures using CESMM4, NRM, RMM, HWMM.
• Ensure all cost elements are considered: escalation, land, administration, direct/indirect costs, and temporary works.
• Identify risks/opportunities and model pre-/post-mitigation costs.
• Develop contingency as part of a holistic risk/estimate view.
• Consider embodied and operational carbon in assessments.
• Produce basis of estimate reports detailing assumptions, dependencies, exclusions.
• Ensure governance, quality, and timely delivery of estimating outputs.
• Secure leadership review and sign-off on all estimates.
• Support project financial modelling and overall project finances.
