Job summary

Mott MacDonald is seeking an Estimator/Senior Estimator to produce high-quality cost estimates across the project and programme lifecycle. You will work with stakeholders to shape scope, develop cost plans, and apply industry techniques to reflect risks, opportunities and uncertainties.

You will establish Work and Cost Breakdown Structures, ensure full coverage of the cost stack, and support contingency calculations while promoting governance and best practices in estimation.

Qualifications

• HNC / HND or degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or Quantity Surveying, or equivalent experience.
• Professional accreditation with AcostE / RICS / CIOB or working towards.
• Experience in process heavy sectors (Water, Energy, Oil & Gas).
• Experience with standard estimating packages (CANDY, CONQUEST, CAUSEWAY, COST OS, COST X).
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• In-depth experience in infrastructure projects with client relations.
• Knowledge of TOTEX and whole life cost approaches.

Responsibilities

• Hold responsibility for cost estimate development through all project stages.
• Undertake estimates using bottom-up and top-down methods.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to define scope and capture estimating activities.
• Develop Work Breakdown Structures and Cost Breakdown Structures using standard methods.
• Ensure all cost elements, incl. escalation and indirect costs, are included.
• Support risk and opportunity identification and post-mitigation cost impacts.
• Develop contingency calculations within a team-based environment.
• Deliver basis of estimate reports with clear assumptions and exclusions.
