Job summary

Rothstein Recruitment Ltd is sourcing an experienced RPG Developer to join a major international bank in the UK. You will redevelop the core banking system, translate business requirements into robust RPG solutions and work within a team of developers and IT specialists.

The role focuses on modern IBM i development practices, strong testing standards, and collaboration across departments to deliver critical banking functionality.

Qualifications

• Strong commercial experience as an RPG Developer.
• Knowledge of fixed-format and free-format RPG.
• Experience developing SQL, including standalone SQL and SQL embedded within RPG applications.
• Modern coding techniques (modules, service programs, activation groups).
• Understanding of IBM i development practices (modules, service programs, activation groups).
• Solid knowledge of IBM i platform and IBM development tooling.
• Experience in Agile environments.
• Exposure to Citrix administration is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Translate business and technical requirements into clear development solutions and user stories.
• Design, develop and maintain RPG applications in line with established development standards.
• Deliver well-structured, reliable and maintainable code with a strong focus on quality and testing.
• Investigate application issues, diagnose defects and implement effective solutions.
• Develop a strong understanding of business processes and how they are supported by the core banking application.
• Collaborate with other developers, architects and IT specialists to deliver new functionality for UKBR development.
• Develop technical documents and instructions to accurately represent application design and code.
