Job summary

Rothstein Recruitment is sourcing an RPG Developer for a leading international bank in the UK. The role focuses on redeveloping the Core Banking system and contributing to a critical technology estate.

You will translate requirements into robust RPG solutions and work across fixed-format and free-format RPG within an IBM i environment. The successful candidate will design, develop and maintain RPG applications, write quality code, and participate in testing.

Qualifications

• Strong commercial experience as an RPG Developer, preferably within banking or financial services.
• Proficient in fixed-format and free-format RPG.
• Experience developing SQL, including embedded SQL within RPG applications.
• Understanding of IBM i development practices, including modules, service programs and activation groups.
• Solid knowledge of the IBM i platform and experience using IBM development tooling such as Rational Developer for i.

Responsibilities

• Translate business and technical requirements into clear development solutions and user stories.
• Design, develop and maintain RPG applications in line with established development standards and processes.
• Deliver well-structured, reliable and maintainable code, with a strong focus on quality and testing.
• Investigate application issues, diagnose defects and implement effective solutions.
• Develop a strong understanding of business processes and how they are supported by the core banking application.
• Work collaboratively with other developers, architects and IT specialists to define and deliver new functionality for UKBR development
• Develop technical documents and instructions to accurately represent application design and code
• Experience in Agile environments
• Exposure to Citrix administration and vulnerability management would be advantageous
