Job summary

Microlise in the United Kingdom is seeking an experienced Senior RPG Software Engineer to join on a 12 month fixed term contract, focused on IBM i applications and modernisation.

You will design, develop and maintain RPG/400 and related IBM i components, lead deployments, and mentor engineers while collaborating with stakeholders to deliver robust, maintainable solutions. This hands-on role requires strong problem solving, DB2 for i knowledge, REST APIs and Agile delivery experience.

Qualifications

• Degree in Computer Science or related discipline or equivalent commercial experience.
• Experience as Senior RPG Engineer or IBM i Developer.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain RPG/400, RPG IV, ILE RPG and Free Format RPG.
• Support and enhance solutions in IBM i / AS400 environments.
• Analyse business requirements and translate into robust technical solutions.
• Develop and optimise DB2 for i databases and SQL queries.
• Design and maintain integrations using REST APIs, JSON and XML.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex application, database and system issues.
• Plan and support software deployments across environments.
• Mentor engineers and contribute to continuous improvement.
• Participate in Agile delivery activities.
