Job summary

Holmes Care Group in Scotland is seeking a dedicated Cook to prepare nutritious, home-cooked meals for residents, ensuring dietary requirements are met and high standards of cleanliness and safety are maintained.

You will cook, portion and serve meals, assist with menu planning, and help guide the kitchen team. Training and professional development opportunities are provided within our established care home environment.

Qualifications

• Experience as Cook in care/home setting.
• Ability to accommodate dietary requirements.
• Hold relevant Food Hygiene Certificates.
• Awareness of all relevant regulations.

Responsibilities

• Prepare varied, tasty meals while meeting dietary needs.
• Provide special diets where necessary.
• Maintain kitchen cleanliness and health and safety standards.

What does the day of a Cook look like?

Our Cooks play a key role in serving nutritious home cooked meals, whilst also maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness and health and safety:

• Producing varied, tasty menus for our residents, whilst also considering individual dietary requirements
• To provide special diets where necessary
• Cleaning and washing up after meals and ensuring the overall cleanliness of the kitchen
• Preparing and serving meals
• Guiding and coaching the kitchen team
• Stock control; stock replenishing/ordering
• Managing Food Health and Safety requirements, ensuring all necessary documentation is completed and up to date

To be considered for this role you will need to have experience working as a Cook, with the ability to accommodate a variety of dietary requirements. In addition, we expect you to hold all the relevant qualifications and Food Hygiene Certificates, and that you are aware of all the relevant regulations.
