Job summary

Holmes Care Group is seeking a Cook to join our kitchen team in a care environment. You will prepare nutritious meals, accommodate dietary requirements, and maintain high standards of cleanliness and safety.

Experience in catering and relevant Food Hygiene Certificates are essential. The role includes assisting with stock, serving meals, and supporting the kitchen team in a busy setting.

Qualifications

• Experience as a cook in a care home or hospitality setting.
• Ability to prepare nutritious meals and accommodate dietary requirements.
• Knowledge of food hygiene and safety regulations.

Responsibilities

• Prepare varied, nutritious menus for residents.
• Provide special diets where necessary and ensure dietary needs are met.
• Maintain kitchen cleanliness and health and safety standards.
• Prepare and serve meals and assist in coaching the kitchen team.
• Monitor stock levels and assist with ordering when needed.

What does the day of a Cook look like?

Our Cooks play a key role in serving nutritious home cooked meals, whilst also maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness and health and safety:

• Producing varied, tasty menus for our residents, whilst also considering individual dietary requirements
• To provide special diets where necessary
• Cleaning and washing up after meals and ensuring the overall cleanliness of the kitchen
• Preparing and serving meals
• Guiding and coaching the kitchen team
• Stock control; stock replenishing/orderingManaging Food Health and Safety requirements, ensuring all necessary documentation is completed and up to date

To be considered for this role you will need to have experience working as a Cook, with the ability to accommodate a variety of dietary requirements. In addition, we expect you to hold all the relevant qualifications and Food Hygiene Certificates, and that you are aware of all the relevant regulations.
