Job summary

Parklands Care Homes in Buckie is seeking an experienced Cook to lead the preparation of wholesome, nutritious meals for our residents in the Central Kitchen. The role requires a hands-on approach, strong teamwork, and a commitment to high standards.

You will plan, prepare, and oversee day-to-day kitchen operations, ensuring dietary needs are met, and that hygiene and safety protocols are followed. This full-time position offers ongoing training and development opportunities at Parklands.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a similar cooking role, ideally in a care or residential setting.
  • Knowledge of dietary needs for older people and those with specific health conditions.
  • Ability to work under pressure and maintain high standards.
  • Strong organisational and communication skills.
  • Food Safety and Hygiene certification (Level 2 or above essential; Level 3/NVQ-3 or equivalent desirable).
  • Physical stamina to work in a hot kitchen environment and perform manual tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, prepare and cook nutritious meals tailored to residents' dietary needs, preferences, allergies, and medical requirements.
  • Oversee daily kitchen operations, ensuring compliance with Food Hygiene and Health & Safety regulations.
  • Manage and support a small kitchen team, providing guidance and ensuring high standards of food service.
  • Monitor stock levels, order supplies, and maintain kitchen equipment.
  • Maintain accurate records, including meal plans, temperature checks, and dietary notes.
  • Work collaboratively with care staff and residents to gather feedback and continuously improve meal service.
  • Support special functions and events as required.

As a Cook, you will need to be adaptable and able to thrive in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment. Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively as part of our team are essential for delivering high-quality meals that meet the dietary needs and preferences of residents.

The Role...
