Job summary

Pilgrims' Friend Society is hiring a Cook for our Furze Hill House care home near North Walsham, Norfolk. This role suits someone with catering experience who cares for older adults and values a homely, Christian ethos-driven environment.

You will prepare nutritious meals, uphold hygiene standards, and work as part of a friendly team. A Food Hygiene Certificate is advantageous, with training provided if needed.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, cook and serve nutritious, balanced meals for residents.
• Ensure food hygiene and safety standards are met according to regulations.
• Observe temperature requirements during cooking, reheating, hot holding and serving.
• Maintain kitchen records and stock rotation to minimise waste and costs.
• Keep kitchen, storage areas and equipment clean and well maintained.

Do you have catering experience and enjoy preparing nutritious meals for older people?

We currently have an opportunity for a dedicated and enthusiastic Cook or experienced Kitchen Assistant to join our team at our residential care home at Furze Hill House, North Walsham.

We provide a loving and caring environment for our residents, whilst maintaining the Christian ethos that is so important to them. The health, well-being and happiness of our residents are of primary importance to us. Furze Hill House is a 40 bed care home just on the outskirts of North Walsham. View our lovely home here.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working in a busy kitchen environment, takes pride in preparing home-cooked meals, and understands the importance of providing nutritious, balanced food that contributes to the wellbeing and happiness of our residents.

Responsibilities:

Prepare, cook and serve nutritious, balanced and attractive meals, taking into account individual preferences and special dietary requirements.

Ensure all food hygiene and food safety standards are maintained in line with current regulations.

Observe minimum temperature requirements during cooking, reheating, hot holding and serving of food.

Maintain accurate kitchen records and documentation as required.

Store food correctly and manage stock rotation to minimise waste and control costs.

Maintain the kitchen, food storage areas, equipment, crockery, cutlery and utensils in a high standard of cleanliness.

Use kitchen equipment safely and in accordance with manufacturer guidelines and health and safety requirements.

Attend training sessions and meetings as required.

Support a positive and engaging home environment and contribute to activities that enhance residents' quality of life.

Work as part of a team and undertake other reasonable duties within your capabilities.
