Hollybank Trustees Ltd'' Bridgemead care home in Bath is seeking a Cook on a bank, part-time basis to prepare nutritious meals for residents in a busy kitchen.

We provide a caring environment aligned with the Christian ethos, with a 32-bed facility that cares for dementia and respite needs. Applicants should have kitchen experience and a good understanding of food hygiene standards.

Bank coverage is available to cover absences and holidays, with flexible hours, ongoing training and staff support.

Qualifications

  • Experience in a professional kitchen.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, cook and serve nutritious meals suitable for residents.
  • Maintain food hygiene and safety standards per regulations.
  • Observe temperature controls during cooking and serving.
  • Keep kitchen records and stock control to minimise waste.
  • Maintain cleanliness of kitchen, storage areas and equipment.
  • Attend training and contribute to residents' quality of life.
  • Work as part of a team and support other duties as required.

Do you have experience working in a professional kitchen and enjoy preparing nutritious meals for older people?

We currently have an opportunity for a dedicated and enthusiastic Cook to join our team at our residential Bridgemead care home in Bath.

We provide a loving and caring environment for our residents, whilst maintaining the Christian ethos that is so important to them. The health, well-being and happiness of our residents are of primary importance to us.

Bridgemead is a 32-bed residential care home by the river in central Bath. The health, well-being and happiness of our residents is of primary importance to us. The home cares for those who live with dementia and respite care in Bath. View our lovely home here .

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working in a busy kitchen environment, takes pride in preparing home-cooked meals, and understands the importance of providing nutritious, balanced food that contributes to the wellbeing and happiness of our residents.

Responsibilities:
  • Prepare, cook and serve nutritious, balanced and attractive meals, taking into account individual preferences and special dietary requirements.
  • Ensure all food hygiene and food safety standards are maintained in line with current regulations.
  • Observe minimum temperature requirements during cooking, reheating, hot holding and serving of food.
  • Maintain accurate kitchen records and documentation as required.
  • Store food correctly and manage stock rotation to minimise waste and control costs.
  • Maintain the kitchen, food storage areas, equipment, crockery, cutlery and utensils in a high standard of cleanliness.
  • Use kitchen equipment safely and in accordance with manufacturer guidelines and health and safety requirements.
  • Attend training sessions and meetings as required.
  • Support a positive and engaging home environment and contribute to activities that enhance residents' quality of life.
  • Work as part of a team and undertake other reasonable duties within your capabilities.
  • We offer a full induction to the role together with ongoing training and development opportunities.
About You:
  • You enjoy working with older people and have a caring and compassionate approach.
  • You have experience preparing and cooking meals in a professional kitchen environment.
  • You understand the importance of food hygiene, food safety and maintaining high standards.
  • You are organised, reliable and able to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • A Food Hygiene Certificate would be advantageous, although training can be provided.
  • Experience within a care home, healthcare or similar environment would be beneficial but is not essential.
  • You are willing to support and uphold the Christian ethos of the organisation.
