Job summary

Novax Recruitment Group is seeking an experienced Contracts Manager for its structural steelwork and construction projects. You will own contracts from planning through to completion, coordinating office and site teams to deliver on time, within budget and to high standards of safety and quality.

You will manage client and contractor relationships, monitor progress and programme milestones, and work with Quantity Surveyors on valuations and variations.

Qualifications

• Proven experience managing contracts or projects within structural steelwork or related construction.
• Strong technical understanding of steelwork fabrication, installation and engineering drawings.
• Experience managing client relationships, main contractors, subcontractors and site teams.
• Knowledge of NEC forms of contract.
• Strong commercial awareness including project costs, valuations, variations and contractual obligations.
• Experience developing and maintaining project programmes, managing risks and monitoring progress.
• Understanding of construction health and safety and quality requirements.
• Excellent leadership, communication, organisation and problem-solving skills.
• Full UK driving licence and flexibility to attend sites as required.

Responsibilities

• Manage the safe, timely and profitable delivery of allocated steelwork projects from start to finish.
• Coordinate company personnel, subcontractors and site teams to ensure projects are properly resourced and delivered to programme.
• Maintain strong relationships with clients, principal contractors, design teams and other key stakeholders.
• Monitor project progress, maintain programmes and provide regular updates against milestones.
• Manage project risks, resolve issues and identify opportunities to improve performance and profitability.
• Work closely with Quantity Surveyors on valuations, applications for payment, contractual notices and variations.
• Ensure subcontractor performance, resource levels and outputs meet contractual requirements.
• Maintain high standards of health and safety, quality and environmental compliance and project documentation.
• Prepare and review risk assessments and method statements for site activities.
• Supporting tender submissions and business development activities through technical input and planning.
• Attend key site meetings and installation activities, including occasional weekend or overnight work.
