Job summary

Novax Recruitment Ltd is seeking a Senior Project Manager - Structural Steelwork to lead major steel projects in London Projects. You will own delivery from planning through handover, coordinating site, workshop operations, and client relations to ensure on-time, on-budget completion.

The role requires five+ years in structural steel/ heavy construction, strong knowledge of erection sequences, and proficiency with Asta/ Primavera P6, Trimble tools, and BIM workflows.

Qualifications

• Five years' experience managing projects within structural steelwork, steel erection or heavy construction.
• Strong understanding of steel construction methods, materials, erection sequences and site operations.
• Ability to interpret structural drawings, shop drawings, erection plans and 3D models.
• Experience with project planning software such as Asta or Primavera P6.
• Proficiency with Trimble and Trimble Connect, alongside PDF markup tools such as Bluebeam.
• Understanding of contract administration and working with Quantity Surveyors.
• Strong leadership, organisation and communication skills, with the confidence to manage clients, subcontractors and multidisciplinary teams.
• Proactive planning, problem-solving and keeping projects accountable to programme.
• Full, valid driving licence and willingness to travel to project sites.
• CSCS and SMSTS, or equivalent site safety qualifications.

Responsibilities

• Leading project delivery: Manage structural steel installation projects from planning and mobilisation through erection, quality control and final handover.
• Planning ahead: Develop clear project programmes, lookahead schedules and visual plans using models and 2D drawing markups, ensuring teams understand priorities.
• Coordinating people and trades: Organise subcontractors, suppliers, labour, lifting operations and other trades to prevent delays.
• Managing client relationships: Lead site meetings, maintain regular communication with clients and engineers, and provide progress updates.
• Controlling costs and contracts: Monitor budgets, forecasts, variations, change orders and contractual obligations with the commercial team.
• Connecting site and workshop: Link project delivery and workshop operations for aligned fabrication and installation.
• Solving problems: Tackle technical challenges and programme risks, and agree practical solutions.
• Maintaining safety and quality: Enforce safety, ITPs, and delivery to specifications.
• Managing project documentation: Oversee programmes, work packages, RFIs, method statements and reporting.
• Delivering successful handovers: Ensure handover documentation is completed on time.
