Job description
CONTRACT Assistant Project Manager vacancy in Hybrid (Birmingham/Remote) (207LW)

As part of our Public Sector resourcing partnership, we are working with a transportation client looking to recruit a Contract Assistant Project Manager. This role will support the delivery of 40–50 minor works projects per year, each valued between £50k–£300k. Projects follow a structured assurance process, with a strong emphasis on delivering safely, efficiently, and with minimal disruption to passengers and freight.

The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting project setup, documentation, stakeholder coordination, and reporting, ensuring projects are delivered to agreed time, cost, and quality standards.

It is important that the successful candidate lives locally/within commuting distance to central Birmingham, as the role will require 3 days per week on site. BPSS Clearance is required.

Responsibilities
  • Support Project Managers in delivering multiple concurrent projects.
  • Collate, format, and distribute data to stakeholders.
  • Monitor and report on project progress using established systems.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and ensure compliance with reporting guidelines.
  • Attend and contribute to meetings, including taking minutes.
  • Support document control, SharePoint, and Citadel system management.
  • Ensure all project paperwork is in place prior to site works.
  • Interface with internal and external stakeholders to keep parties aligned.
Skills & Experience
  • Previous experience in project support or administration.
  • Strong organisational, communication and prioritisation skills.
  • Excellent IT proficiency, including MS Office (particularly Excel).
  • Commercial and financial awareness.
Desirable
  • Familiarity with SharePoint and document control.
  • Experience with the Citadel project system.
  • Ability to interpret and apply project processes and standards.
