Job description

We are now seeking to recruit a Consultant Paediatrician to join our Community Paediatrics services on a full time or part time basis. We are really pleased that you are seeking a career at LPT, you will work in partnership with members of well‑established multi‑disciplinary teams, both operationally and strategically to drive forward innovation delivering the best effective care for our patients. Main Duties of the job

Deliver the highest quality of clinical care to our patients and carers.

  • Work in partnership at both strategic and operational levels with relevant and external stakeholders.
  • Ensure that people who use services, carers and advocates are treated with respect and dignity.
  • Provide excellent clinical leadership and actively develop your team along with expert advice to our hospital and community specialists, managers and directors on what is needed to deliver excellent care and future strategic directions.
  • Continue responsibility for the care of patients and proper functioning of the department.
  • Liaise with general practitioners, hospital and community specialists and other agencies wherever relevant.
  • Engage with the development of your Job Plan and work independently to produce a timetable illustrating how the consultant timetable may be arranged within the current framework.

You will be receiving a £*** recruitment and retention premia which will be paid over the 3 years on top of your salary and a relocation package up to £8000*.

Qualifications
  • Primary Medical Qualification MRCP, MRCPCH by examination or equivalent
  • Full GMC Registration and Licence to Practice. On the GMC specialist register or within 6 months of CCT or CESR
  • Valid BLS Training
  • Valid APLS and NLS (may be mandatory for some posts)
  • Additional qualifications such as DCH, MBA or other relevant diplomas are desirable
Experience
  • Minimum of 24 months experience in Community Paediatrics during training or post‑CCT or post‑CESR. If already a working Consultant Paediatrician for 10 years, a recent one year of community Paediatrics experience during their consultant role is required.
  • Relevant experience in Child Development / Neurodisability / Paediatric Neurology (minimum 6 months) may be considered.
  • Management of children with complex healthcare needs and neurodevelopmental assessments (autism spectrum disorder, ADHD, global developmental delay, intellectual disability).
  • Experience in clinical examination and knowledge of physical abuse and neglect.
  • Basic management training or experience and leadership skills.
  • Car owner/driver or alternative transport arrangements. Lease car scheme available.
  • Teaching skills – experience of teaching undergraduate/postgraduate and related professionals.
  • Understanding of research and audit principles.
  • Specialist experience in Initial Health Assessment for LAC (looked after children) and in Adoption and Fostering.
  • Evidence of additional training in child protection, clinical experience in this area, and participation in audit.
