Job summary

Bradford College is seeking a Construction Skills Coach to support learners, employers and curriculum teams, ensuring learners are fully supported during work placements and employer-led projects. The postholder will provide practical guidance, mentoring and workplace support to help learners develop essential skills for progression into employment, apprenticeships and training.

Qualifications

• Experience in the construction industry.
• Practical understanding of site operations and health and safety requirements.
• Experience supporting or supervising learners, apprentices or trainees.
• Understanding of employability skills and workforce expectations.
• Experience working with employers and stakeholders.
• Knowledge of current industry practices and skills needs.

Responsibilities

• Nurture relationships with community settings to develop and deliver productive projects.
• Provide direct support and mentoring to construction learners on placements and employer-led projects.
• Support learners to develop technical construction skills, professional behaviours and workplace expectations.
• Deliver guidance and coaching to help learners transition from education into employment.
• Motivate learners to achieve placement objectives and career aspirations.
• Identify support needs and work with curriculum teams to remove barriers to learner success.
• Promote high standards of attendance, punctuality, behaviour and professionalism.
• Support learners during work placements and work-based activities.
• Monitor learner progress and wellbeing on placements.
• Act as a key contact between learners, employers and College staff during placements.
• Ensure learners understand workplace expectations, responsibilities and health and safety requirements.
• Monitor learner engagement and provide interventions where concerns arise.
• Record and report learner progress and achievements.
• Support coordination and delivery of group construction projects and employer-led activities.
• Supervise groups on external projects when required.
• Provide practical guidance and technical support during project delivery.
• Ensure project activities are completed safely and to a set standard.
