Job summary

HS2 Ltd. is seeking a skilled Planning & Project Controls professional to join the Midlands team, delivering 90km of route from Warwickshire to Staffordshire.

You will work with Balfour Beatty VINCI on site or office-based settings, supporting the Project Control Manager and ensuring timely reporting of performance. You will apply Primavera P6, Excel, and risk management techniques in a large construction program, focusing on lean metrics, EVM, and zero harm values, with expectations of

Job description

HS2, Britain’s new high-speed railway is at peak construction. Balfour Beatty VINCI is HS2’s construction partner in the Midlands, responsible for delivering 90km of the route, from Long Itchington in Warwickshire to the centre of Birmingham and on to Handsacre in Staffordshire.

Key Accountabilities

• Support the Project Control Manager in the production and delivery of the Performance Measurement Baseline and Performance Measurement Updates
• Capture and integrate current and forecast programme, budget, cost, and risk at asset and sub-asset level
• Promote best practice and innovation
• Ensure that appropriate lean, coordinated and visual performance metrics are set up to assist the Project Team to timely deliver projects and improve performance
• Support Delivery with the establishment of planned and actual Resource diagrams in P6
• Support the Project Control Manager in the development and analysis of EVM measures
• Effectively use IT and systems as a key enabler for gathering and timely and accurate reporting on project performance
• Live the BBV values
• Ensure a relentless focus on Zero Harm
• Collaborative working
• 2-3 years experience in planning & project control services within large complex environments within the construction and engineering industry
• Understanding of various methods of project controls, planning and performance reporting
• Experience in risk and opportunity management, considered as a plus
• Understanding of the events that initiate, and of the methods used to demonstrate delay or change entitlement
• Good understanding of the methods of construction, plant, equipment and labour requirements
• Good software skills using P6 and Microsoft Excel
• Pro‑active attitude, positive thinking and team player as a must
