Job summary

Morson Human Resources Limited in Saxmundham, Suffolk, is seeking an experienced Environmental Manager to lead sustainability and environmental compliance on a major infrastructure project. The role is temporary to permanent, offering long-term prospects and development.

You will develop and maintain EMS, ensure regulatory compliance, manage environmental risks, and collaborate with project teams and regulators to deliver environmental excellence.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years experience in environmental management within construction, civil engineering or infrastructure projects.
• Professional membership with a recognised environmental body such as IEMA, CIWEM or CIWM.
• Strong working knowledge of ISO 14001 Environmental Management Systems.

Responsibilities

• Act as the environmental subject matter expert for the project team.
• Develop, implement and maintain the project’s Environmental Management System (EMS).
• Ensure compliance with environmental legislation, permits and client requirements.
• Identify environmental risks and develop mitigation strategies.
• Deliver environmental training and awareness across site teams.
• Carry out environmental audits, inspections and support external audits.
• Investigate environmental incidents and implement corrective actions.
• Produce environmental reports, KPI data and sustainability performance updates.
• Support carbon reduction, biodiversity, waste reduction and wider sustainability initiatives.
• Promote environmental best practice and continuous improvement across the project.
• Attend client meetings and liaise with regulators and key stakeholders where required.
