Job summary

Gap Personnel Swindon is seeking a motivated Computer Repair Technician to diagnose, repair, test and process customer devices in a fast-paced Service Centre. You will handle hardware and software diagnostics and ensure high accuracy and productivity in every repair, maintaining thorough records in the CRM system.

The role requires strong technical skills, attention to detail and a proactive, team-oriented attitude.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect devices requiring repair on a first-come, first-served basis.
  • Perform hardware and software diagnostics using testing tools and scripts.
  • Identify faults accurately and determine repair solutions.
  • Request required replacement parts from the designated person.
  • Install replacement parts and components.
  • Verify parts are safe, functional, and operating as intended.
  • Maintain up-to-date records in the CRM during the repair process.
  • Record details of parts used and notes on each repair job.
  • Forward repaired devices to Quality Control for final testing.
  • Aim to complete an average of two repairs per hour.
  • Communicate promptly with the Service Centre Manager about obstacles.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and controlled working environment.

Computer Repair Technician

Location:Swindon
Hours: 9:00am to 5:00pm, Monday to Friday
Salary:£12.71
Job Type: Full-Time, Temp to Perm (Perm after 12 weeks for the right candidates)

About the Role

Gap Personnel Swindon are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Computer Repair Technician to join our clients busy Service Centre team. The successful candidate will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, testing, and processing customer devices while ensuring high standards of quality, accuracy, and productivity.

Key Responsibilities
  • Inspect devices requiring repair on a first-come, first-served basis.
  • Perform comprehensive hardware and software diagnostics using all available testing tools and scripts.
  • Accurately identify faults and determine appropriate repair solutions.
  • Request required replacement parts and materials from the designated person within the business.
  • Carefully install replacement parts and components.
  • Verify that all replacement parts are safe, functional, and operating as intended.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records within the company's CRM system throughout the repair process.
  • Record details of parts used and any relevant service notes on each repair job.
  • Forward repaired devices to the Quality Control department for final testing and approval.
  • Achieve the company's target of completing an average of two repairs per hour.
  • Communicate promptly with the Service Centre Manager regarding any challenges or obstacles that may impact productivity targets.
  • Maintain a clean, organised, and controlled working environment at all times.
