Job summary

Interaction Recruitment Group is seeking an IT Workshop Technician to join a busy Rugby workshop. You will diagnose faults and repair IT equipment including laptops, PCs, printers and POS systems, working hands-on with technology.

The role focuses on hardware fault-finding, testing and repair with adherence to workshop procedures and safety standards, while managing your workload and coordinating with senior engineers to meet service levels.

Qualifications

  • Hands-on hardware repair experience required.
  • Experience repairing PCs, laptops and printers.
  • Experience with POS/till equipment preferred.
  • Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work independently in a high-volume workshop.

Responsibilities

  • Fault finding, repairing and testing IT equipment.
  • Repairing and testing laptops, PCs, desktops and workstations.
  • Working with printers and point-of-sale equipment.
  • Carrying out break-fix repairs and identifying root causes.
  • Testing equipment to meet quality standards.
  • Following workshop procedures and health & safety/ESD requirements.
  • Updating internal systems and paperwork.
  • Managing workload and prioritising repairs.
  • Working to deadlines and service levels.
  • Liaising with senior engineers on priorities.
  • Sharing knowledge with colleagues.
  • Keeping knowledge up to date.
  • Identifying opportunities to improve workshop efficiency.

IT Repair Technician

Location: Rugby
Salary: £14.87 per hour
Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday-Friday
Contract: Temporary to Permanent

We are currently recruiting for an IT Workshop Technician to join a well-established and leading IT services provider. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with a strong technical background who enjoys diagnosing faults, repairing equipment and working hands-on with technology.

The role is initially offered on a temporary-to-permanent basis, with the opportunity to secure a permanent position for the right candidate.

The Role

As an IT Workshop Technician, you will be responsible for fault finding, repairing and testing a variety of IT equipment. This will include laptops, PCs, printers and point-of-sale systems.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Diagnosing faults and carrying out hardware repairs
  • Repairing and testing laptops, PCs, desktops and workstations
  • Working with printers and point-of-sale equipment
  • Carrying out break-fix repairs and identifying root causes
  • Testing equipment to ensure it meets the required quality standards
  • Following workshop procedures and health & safety/ESD requirements
  • Accurately completing paperwork and updating internal systems
  • Managing your own workload and prioritising repairs effectively
  • Working to deadlines and agreed service levels
  • Liaising with senior engineers regarding priorities and workloads
  • Supporting colleagues by sharing technical knowledge and best practice
  • Keeping your technical knowledge up to date as technology develops
  • Identifying opportunities to improve workshop efficiency and productivity
What We're Looking For

We're looking for someone who has genuine hands-on hardware repair experience and is confident troubleshooting a range of IT equipment.

  • You will ideally have:
  • Previous experience in an IT workshop environment - essential
  • Experience repairing and fault-finding PCs, laptops and printers
  • Previous hardware break-fix experience
  • Experience working with point-of-sale/till equipment
  • Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • The ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Good organisation and time-management skills
  • The ability to work effectively in a busy, high-volume environment
  • A proactive, "can-do" approach to problem solving
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • A willingness to learn new technologies and develop your skills
