Job summary

The Francis Crick Institute invites applications for a Bioinformatician/Computational Biologist to join the Malanchi Lab on a five-year ERC Synergy-funded project. You will analyse and integrate diverse genomic and multi-omic datasets, work with bulk and single-cell data, and help translate computational findings into new biological hypotheses.

We seek a candidate with a Bioinformatics/CS degree, strong programming (Python, R, Java, C/C++, Perl) and experience with genomics data and UNIX/Linux.

Qualifications

• Degree in Bioinformatics, Computer Science or related discipline.
• Strong programming skills in Python, R, Java, C/C++ or Perl.
• Experience applying statistical methods to biological data.
• Experience analysing NGS, single-cell RNA-seq and ATAC-seq data.
• Experience with UNIX/Linux environments.
• Experience with databases and data management.
• Ability to interpret scientific literature for research projects.
• Excellent communication and ability to explain findings.

Responsibilities

• Analyse and integrate large-scale genomic and multi-omic datasets.
• Work with bulk and single-cell RNA-seq, ATAC-seq, ChIP-seq, methylome and proteomic data.
• Develop computational approaches and algorithms to answer complex biological questions.
• Identify patterns and signatures and translate into biological insights.
• Collaborate with scientists to inform experimental design and data interpretation.
• Develop and maintain bioinformatics tools, software and databases.
• Ensure data quality and integrity throughout the analysis process.
• Communicate findings through discussions, presentations, reports and publications.
• Stay up to date with emerging bioinformatics approaches and technologies across the field.
